Roche Diagnostics Launches HTLV Assay
Roche has launched the Elecsys human T-lymphotropic virus I/II immunoassay, a diagnostic that helps detect HTLV antibodies in donated blood and routine samples.
Developed for blood centers and clinical laboratories, the test is meant to ensure blood safety and reduce the transmission of viral infection, the Swiss devicemaker said Wednesday.
The company adds that the test can render results at any stage of the disease, features a minimal need for retesting and returns results within 18 minutes.
Roche employs an estimated 88,500 people globally, reporting 2014 sales of about $49.4 billion. — Jason Scott
