ACP: Pricing Transparency Can Help Squelch Drug Costs
Pricing transparency is a key ingredient in bringing down prescription drug costs, according to a policy paper from the American College of Physicians.
The paper says that to achieve a meaningful reduction of drug prices, drugmakers should disclose actual material and production costs to regulators, along with the cost of developing a drug.
ACP’s report, which appeared in the March 29 edition of the Annals of Internal Medicine, also states that “rigorous price transparency standards” are needed for drugs developed using taxpayer dollars.
