FDA Slaps Best Bentonite with Warning Letter for Unapproved and Misbranded Drug
Best Bentonite received a warning letter for promoting the unapproved drug on its website.
Bentonite is an absorbent aluminum phyllosilicate powder that can be formed into clay when mixed with water. The firm’s website states Bentonite is a mineral rich volcanic ash that was deposited in sea water approximately 60 million years ago, which can be used to make products such as facial masks, toothpaste and soap. The site adds that the powder can increase energy and clear the body of nicotine for those attempting to quit smoking.
In addition to the product not being approved, it contains lead, chromium, cadmium, cesium, and lithium, all of which are toxic.
