Chinese Ointment Company Falsified Lab Results, FDA Says
A Chinese maker of pain-relief balms and ointments falsified results of tests on its products and deflected FDA inspectors seeking to examine its laboratory, the FDA said in a warning letter.
The agency in August blocked imports from the company, Shandong Vianor Biotech.
The warning letter, based on a May inspection, said that the company’s lab analysis of an unidentified product determined it was subpotent, but a certificate supporting its export to the U.S. declared it to be within specifications.
Shandong Vianor’s products include Tiger Balm and Ultra Strength Pain Relief Balm for muscle aches.
