The FDA approved Ferring Pharmaceuticals’ prescription Clenpiq (sodium picosulfate, magnesium oxide and anhydrous citric acid) a low-volume oral solution for cleansing of the colon in adults undergoing a colonoscopy.

Clenpiq is a cranberry-flavored, dual-acting combination of sodium picosulfate, a stimulant laxative, and magnesium oxide and anhydrous citric acid, which forms magnesium citrate, an osmotic laxative.

The company plans to launch Clenpiq early next year, describing it as the only FDA-approved colonoscopy prep that comes ready-to-drink. Ferring acquired global rights, excluding South Korea, to the stable liquid formulation from Pharmbio.
