Eximis Surgical raised $5.1 million for further development of XCor, a surgical tool designed for minimally-invasive specimen removal in laparoscopic surgery.

The device separates the specimen into narrow stripes, creating clean tissue segments for easier pathology identification and allowing for removal of a large specimen through a small incision.

The XCor technology offers an alternative to power morcellators that have been linked to the spread of cancer cells.
