After experiencing a steep decline early in 2018, generic drug approvals by the FDA are climbing back towards last year’s highs according to the latest FDA report.

The agency issued 57 generic approvals in March, up from 25 in February and 32 in January, according to the GDUFA performance report. It also issued 11 tentative approvals, up from just 5 in February and 6 in January.

The fiscal year started out strong for generic approvals — with 87, 84 and 78 approvals in October, November and December respectively.
