The state of New Jersey revoked a pain management physician’s license to practice over kickbacks from Insys for prescribing its opioids.
Kenneth Sun accepted $117,000 from the drugmaker to prescribe the Insys fentanyl spray Subsys, according to the New Jersey Attorney General’s office. His prescriptions generated more than $4.8 million in revenues for Insys, according to the AG’s office.
Sun will be eligible to reapply for his New Jersey license in three years after completing medical ethics, record-keeping and opioid prescribing safety courses.
The Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine also suspended Sun’s license.
