Canada Issues Medical Device Action Plan to Improve Device Safety
Health Canada announced out a three-part strategy designed to improve the safety and effectiveness of its medical devices.
The agency said it will focus on improving device monitoring and follow-up, getting patients more information on the devices they use and improving how devices reach the market.
For example, it intends allow healthcare professionals and researchers to file applications to conduct investigational tests, which are currently only allowed for manufacturers.
The agency expects to launch the main elements of its action plan in early 2019.
