Drugmakers Say Requiring Prices in TV Ads Could Confuse Patients
The CMS proposal to require the disclosure of drug prices in TV ads is getting pushback from major drug manufacturers who claim the list prices would confuse consumers.
In written comments on the agency’s proposed rule, Pfizer, J&J, Eli Lilly and Sanofi argued that other information is needed — not just the list price — to improve price transparency for consumers.
Eli Lilly said it supported giving consumers more information but claimed the CMS plan might “create more confusion than clarity for patients.”
