Senate Committee Seeks Comment on Drug Pricing Package

A key Senate committee is seeking public comment on a package of bills that backers say would rein in the costs of prescription drugs and restore order to the healthcare system.
The Lower Health Care Costs Act of 2019 has five titles, dealing with topics from surprise medical bills to national campaigns to raise awareness about vaccines. Its middle two titles encompass reforms already embraced by the House in different forms.
Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), said he and Ranking Member Patty Murray (D-Wash.), want to get that legislation—as well as two other bills—marked up in June.
