FDA Gets $184 Million Budget Bump in House Subcommittee Vote

June 3, 2019

A House Appropriations subcommittee approved a $184 million budget increase for the FDA for fiscal year 2020, with language that proponents say gives a “strong focus” on speeding up generic approvals.

The Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, FDA and Related Agencies passed the proposed budget by voice vote. The proposal now moves to the full Appropriations Committee for consideration.

If passed by Congress, it would increase government spending at the FDA to $3.26 billion. Including user fees and other revenues, the agency’s overall budget would be $5.86 billion.
