The FDA granted CorMatrix Cardiovascular 510(k) clearance for its Cor PATCH epicardial patch, used to support and repair heart tissue in adults and patients.

The s device is able to provide epicardial support and repair of atrial and ventricular walls of the heart that have been reduced or damaged by a heart attack.

“This could be a game changer for patients undergoing surgical procedures aimed to increase the blood supply to damaged areas of their heart,” said Paul Fedak, a professor of cardiac surgery at the University of Calgary.
