DOJ Levies Charges Against Pill Mill Operation
The Department of Justice charged 41 individuals, including medical professionals and drug dealers, for running a pill mill that diverted approximately 23 million oxycodone, hydrocodone and carisoprodol pills.
The DOJ alleges that the individuals knew that the prescriptions “had no legitimate medical purpose and were outside of the usual course of professional medical practice.”
Along with the charges, seven pharmacies involved in the scheme were immediately suspended by the Drug Enforcement Agency.
