EMA Committee Recommends Dapivirine Vaginal Ring
The EMA’s Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) has recommended the Dapivirine vaginal ring for use in countries outside the EU to reduce the risk of HIV infection.
This would be the 11th product recommended under the EU’s Medicines for All initiative that allows the CHMP to issue opinions on such products.
Placed in the vagina, the silicone ring slowly releases the antiretroviral medicine dapivirine for 28 days.
