Cordis Recalls S.M.A.R.T. Flex Vascular Stents
Santa Clara, Calif.-based Cordis has recalled 38 lots of its S.M.A.R.T. Flex vascular stents after three patients were injured.
The reason for the recall is that insufficient adhesive creates a risk of detachment or separation of the distal tip, according to the Cardinal Healthcare subsidiary.
This may lead to a delay in the medical procedure, as one product has to be replaced by another, or to restriction of the patient’s peripheral blood supply, the company said.
