Former GSK Scientist Pleads Guilty to Conspiring to Steal Trade Secrets
An ex-GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) scientist, Lucy Xi, has pleaded guilty to conspiring to steal trade secrets from the British drugmaker on behalf of Renopharma, a Chinese biotech.
Xi entered her plea in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. She and four co-conspirators were charged with wire fraud, money laundering and theft of trade secrets.
Federal prosecutors alleged that Xi forwarded confidential information to her personal email, with large swaths of the proprietary information pertaining to experimental GSK cancer therapies.
