Gen-Probe Aptima GC Assay Gets FDA OK
Gen-Probe, which develops, makes and markets nucleic acid tests, said its Aptima assay for the detection of Neisseria gonorrhoeae (GC) received marketing clearance from the FDA. The company said the Aptima GC assay detects, on a standalone basis, the bacterium that causes gonorrhea, one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases in the U.S. with 700,000 new cases each year.
