SIGMA AND ARROW TO FORM $2.2B DRUG GROUP
Chemist and drug maker Sigma Company Ltd is set to merge with Arrow Pharmaceuticals Ltd to form a $2.2 billion pharmaceutical company. The Sydney-based companies have agreed to form a new company, Sigma Pharmaceuticals Ltd, in which Sigma shareholders will have a two-thirds stake. The merger, which is due to be put to shareholders in November, would deliver the pair a strong position in the generic pharmaceutical market in Australia, delivering benefits of scale and diversity, the companies said.
