Merck's Rebates, Discounts for Zocor Could Set Precedent

Merck’s strategy to undercut generic versions of its cholesterol drug Zocor before the drug went off patent June 23 — by cutting the drug’s price and paying insurers to lower copays — could set a precedent for other drug companies to try and outfox competitors, according to one analyst.
