MEDTRONIC RECEIVES FAVORABLE COURT RULING IN BIOMET PATENT DISPUTE
Medtronic recently announced the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C. has vacated a previous lower court injunction and voided a summary judgment against Medtronic Sofamor Danek in a patent dispute with Cross Medical Products, Inc., a Biomet company. The ruling returns the case to the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California where the merits of the case will be determined by a jury trial. The announcement means there is no longer any legal prohibition against Medtronic Sofamor Danek's sale of its full line of multi-axial screw products, including its CD Horizon Legacy Screws.
