Until recently, supplying power for medical electronics has typically involved identifying products that have appropriate medical certifications with power ratings and environmental specifications as close as possible to what a designer needs. Not only has this resulted in cumbersome restrictions due to limited availability of products with the right certifications, it has stifled flexibility and innovation by forcing designers to use what is obtainable rather than what is optimal.
