CLINICAL RESEARCH ORGANIZATIONS EXPAND SPEED AND CAPACITY OF PHARMACEUTICALS' PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT PIPELINE, TUFTS STUDY FINDS
The proportion of resources involved in pharmaceutical product development has shifted from drug and biotechnology companies to contract Clinical Research Organizations (CROs) over the last five years, according to a survey by the Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development. The realignment has increased the speed and efficiency of the industry's product-development pipeline while maintaining clinical-trial data quality and high levels of regulatory compliance, the study found.
