AGEING BOOSTS DRUG SALES TO $835BN AND RISING
Age related illnesses such as cardiovascular disease and cancer have driven
a global drugs boom that pushed worldwide pharmaceutical sales above $US600
billion ($835billion) for the first time last year. Australia's biggest-selling
drug was the cholesterol-reducing Lipitor. It was also the world's most used
drug, with worldwide sales exceeding $12 billion of the overall $32billion cholesterol-reduction
market.
