Predix Pharmaceuticals has reported that a midstage clinical trial on a new anti-anxiety drug has generated promising results.

PRX-00023 generated a positive showing in 21 patients with generalized anxiety disorder who took part in the Phase II trial, said the company. All patients showed "significantly reduced symptoms" and tolerated the drug well.

The drug is also being tested in an ongoing late-stage, or Phase III, human clinical trial.
