ANGOLA LAUNCHES NEW ANTI-MALARIA PROGRAM
Angola will launch a new anti-malaria campaign in the country's central Huambo Province, according to Health Minister Sebastiao Veloso. Huambo has one of the highest malaria rates in the country. The ministry will distribute a new antimalarial drug, Coartem, to residents of the province.
According to the minister, Coartem -- manufactured by Novartis -- will help drop the high rate of mortality in that region due to its high level of efficiency. At least 60,000 cases of malaria are recorded annually in Huambo.
