AdvaMed Concerned Over Clinical Lab Competitive Bidding

Industry association AdvaMed is concerned about a new competitive bidding program for clinical laboratory services after the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced the San Diego area will be the first site for the project.

The program requires competitive bidding arrangements for diagnostic laboratory payments under Part B of Medicare.

The program is primarily focused on cost, which may prevent smaller, specialized labs from competing with larger organizations, AdvaMed said.
