Australian Institute Launches Indian Center

The George Institute for International Health, a nonprofit Australian health research organization, has opened a center in India.

The institute also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Indian Council of Medical Research and The University of Sydney Faculty of Medicine to improve health and medical research in India. Together, the partners will conduct studies on how to improve health and manage diseases, addressing such issues as cardiovascular health, obesity, HIV/AIDS and injury.

The occasion marks an expansion of Australian health expertise into the Asia-Pacific region following the May opening of The George Institute in China, the institute said.
