HIV/AIDS Vaccines to Undergo Trials

The African AIDS Vaccine Program (AAVP), a network of African experts, reported that development of an HIV/AIDS vaccine has reached an advanced stage.

AAVP said several vaccines will undergo trials in different parts of Africa to establish their efficacy and suitability, Nigerian newspaper This Day reported.

Pontiano Kaleebu, AAVP’s chairman, said since 1999 more than 12 trials testing potential vaccines have been conducted in eight African countries.
