EC Grants GENimmune Orphan Product Designation
December 12, 2007
The European Commission (EC) has awarded orphan designation to a GENimmune monoclonal antibody for the prevention of hepatitis C virus (HCV) re-infection after liver transplantation.
Belgium-based GENimmune is Innogenetics’ biopharmaceutical subsidiary.
The antibody is a result of GENimmune’s E1 research program, which has identified a series of HCV monoclonal antibodies that block the infection of liver cells in vitro, Innogenetics said.
