Cyberonics Acquires Stroke, Brain Injury Patent Rights

December 19, 2007

Cyberonics has acquired the exclusive rights to three additional patents for vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) for the treatment of stroke and traumatic brain injury.

The patents were licensed from Southern Illinois University.

This action demonstrates the company’s commitment to expand its business around neurology and surgery, Dan Moore, Cyberonics’ president and CEO, said.

VNS therapy enables physicians to impact the brain and nervous system without performing surgery in the brain.
