U.S. Female Sterilization Market to Grow to $245 Million Over Next Five Years

May 1, 2008

According to Millennium Research Group’s (MRG) U.S. Markets for Gynecological Devices 2008 report, the female sterilization market was worth more than $80 million in 2007. Driven by increasing demand for transcervical procedures, this market is expected to grow to roughly $245 million by 2012.

The report looks at the key industry competitors, including Hologic, Gynecare, Conceptus, Boston Scientific, Cooper Surgical, and American Medical Systems. It also includes European coverage of France, Germany, Italy and the U.K.

Conceptus is the only company in the transcervical sterilization device market. But MRG expects Hologic will launch Adiana, its new female sterilization product, in 2009. More doctors will perform transcervical sterilization procedures and fuel market expansion through 2012, according to the report.
