Arena Sees Positive Results From Arterial Thrombosis Trial

July 15, 2008

Arena Pharmaceuticals received favorable outcomes from a Phase Ib trial of APD791 for the treatment of arterial thrombosis and other related conditions.

The study was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multiple-ascending dose trial in 50 healthy volunteers. The drug was generally well tolerated, and positive results were seen in the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of the drug over one week, the company said.

Thrombosis is the formation of a clot, or thrombus, inside a blood vessel that restricts the flow of blood.
