Theragenics to Acquire NeedleTech

Theragenics will acquire NeedleTech Products, a privately held manufacturer of specialty needles and related medical devices, for $47.8 million in cash.

“NeedleTech is a good fit, offering products that complement our existing product lines,” Christine Jacobs, chairman and CEO of Theragenics, said. Theragenics’ surgical products include sutures, needles and guidewires whereas NeedleTech produces a variety of medical needles.

The acquisition is expected to be completed in the third quarter of the year.
