Abbott to Buy Advanced Medical Optics for $2.8 Billion

Abbott Laboratories has signed an agreement to acquire Advanced Medical Optics (AMO) for about $2.8 billion. Under the agreement, Abbott will gain access to AMO’s devices and products for cataract surgery, laser vision correction and eye care. Abbott will issue a tender offer to purchase all outstanding shares of AMO at $22 per share, it said.
