India Passes Sanction Legislation Against ‘Spurious’ Drugs

Indian President Pratibha Patil signed legislation last month strengthening the sanctions government can impose for substandard or adulterated drugs. The Drugs and Cosmetics (Amendment) Bill doubles the minimum punishment for manufacturers of fake and adulterated drugs to 10 years in prison with a possibility of life imprisonment for the most grievous crimes.
