St. Jude Gets CE Marking for Deep Brain Stimulation Systems

January 26, 2009
St. Jude Medical received CE Marking for its Libra and LibraXP deep brain stimulation (DBS) systems for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease. The systems deliver mild electrical pulses from an implanted device to stimulate parts of the brain that are used in movement and muscle control. The treatment can be noninvasively adjusted to meet individual patient needs, St. Jude said of its first venture into the DBS market.
