Devicemakers Entering Markets Ruled by Pharma, Analysts Say

Although drug therapy will remain the first line of treatment for most indications, devicemakers are rapidly staking claims for their products in the multibillion-dollar market traditionally served by pharmaceuticals. “The revenue potential associated with emerging device-eligible indications will ensure that medtech firms start exploring historically pharma-dominated markets,” Aaron Dickson, co-president of Millennium Research Group, said during a recent web conference. “More importantly, devices that can successfully gain foothold in these markets will offer substantial opportunities for growth.”
