Pfizer Will Publicize Payments to Healthcare Professionals

February 16, 2009
Pfizer is following Eli Lilly’s lead in disclosing payments to U.S. healthcare professionals for consulting, lecturing and conducting clinical trials, including the name of the individual or institution involved. The company will start posting annual reports on its website next year, covering payments made on or after July 1, 2009. Pfizer says it is the first biopharmaceutical company to commit to reporting payments it makes as part of Phase I–IV clinical trials, including investigator-initiated research, as well as payments for promotional speaking and consulting.
