New Device Association Pushes for Regulatory Reform in India

To facilitate exports, more than 150 Indian devicemakers are pressing the government for globally harmonized regulatory guidelines and audits of manufacturing plants and testing facilities by internationally accredited organizations. The devicemakers established the Association of Indian Medical Device Industry (AIMED) last month to address common issues and provide the government a single point of contact with the $100 million (U.S.) domestic device industry, Rajiv Nath, AIMED coordinator and joint managing director of Hindustan Syringes & Medical Devices, said.
