Devicemakers Take Disclosure Into Their Own Hands

While industry wants one federal standard for reporting devicemakers’ payments to physicians, some companies are implementing their own policies. Medtronic announced that it will begin publicly disclosing how much money and other perks it gives to physicians. Medtronic CEO Bill Hawkins said it is important for the public to know the unique relationship devicemakers have with physicians. And by making these payments transparent, companies can prove that they have nothing to hide.
