IMS Health: Generics Dominate Prescriptions in Canada, US

Generics claimed a 63 percent share of U.S. prescriptions written by doctors last year and accounted for 51.6 percent of prescriptions dispensed in Canada last year — up from 48 percent in 2007, according to IMS Health. In the U.S., generic drugs dominated the number of dispensed prescriptions for the top 15 pharmaceutical products.
