FDA Clears Ultrasound System

SuperSonic Imagine received 510(k) clearance from the FDA for its Aixplorer Ultrasound System, according to a recent company statement. The device is based on the interaction between longitudinal waves and shear waves in tissue and can acquire data 200 times faster than conventional ultrasound. The high rate of data acquisition gives users real-time assessments of tissue stiffness that can enhance other diagnostic information.
