Industry to FDA: Guidance Needed on Social Media

Industry may be a step closer to getting its wish — clear FDA guidance on using social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to promote devices. The agency has scheduled a public hearing Nov. 12 and 13 to get comment from industry on such issues as adverse event reporting, corporate responsibility of user-generated content and fair balance, according to a notice in the Federal Register. Written comments are due Feb. 28, 2010.
