Wireless Technology Enables Remote Monitoring of Wounds
November 19, 2009
In what could become routine practice, Wound
Technology Network (WTN), a physicians group, has signed a two-year agreement with AT&T to use its
wireless technology to remotely diagnose and prescribe treatments for patients with chronic wounds. Using the HTC FUZE smart mobile device, clinical staff
can capture and transmit images of patient wounds to specialists. The images can then be uploaded into the patient’s electronic medical record, George
Pollack, WTN’s chief technology officer, said.
