Genzyme Resumes Cerezyme, Fabrazyme Shipments
December 2, 2009
Genzyme, which has faced two bouts of contamination at
its Allston, Mass., plant, has begun new Cerezyme shipments and is preparing to release new Fabrazyme lots from the facility. Initial shipments of Gaucher’s
disease treatment Cerezyme (imiglucerase) will go to the most vulnerable patients, the company says in a statement. Genzyme expects to expand shipments
of the orphan drug by year’s end to patients whose treatment was interrupted
by the shortage caused by a viral contamination that temporarily closed the plant earlier this year.
