St. Jude Trade Secret Lawsuit Holds Lessons for Others

Device companies should take note of a trade secret case involving St. Jude Medical and a former principal engineer at its Pacesetter subsidiary, legal experts say, noting an uptick in such litigation. The Los Angeles Superior Court granted St. Jude a preliminary injunction last week prohibiting Yongning Zou and his China-based company Nervicon Co. from developing devices based on St. Jude’s trade secrets and internal documents. A case management hearing in Pacesetter Inc. v. Nervicon Co. Ltd is scheduled for Jan. 21, 2010.
