Nelson Attempt to Expand Rebates Is PhRMA’s ‘Line in Sand’

December 8, 2009
PhRMA is calling an amendment that would phase out the Medicare Part D coverage gap and expand drugmaker-funded rebates to some Medicaid beneficiaries a “line-in-the-sand” issue. The amendment, which Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) has said he plans to introduce on the Senate floor to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, H.R. 3590, would require drugmakers to provide Medicare rebates that match Medicaid rebates for full-benefit, dual-eligible beneficiaries.
