Smaller Companies Becoming Competitive in Spinal Implants

December 8, 2009
Smaller devicemakers in the global spinal implant market are beginning to compete with the top five companies in the sector, according to a report from the Millennium Research Group. DePuy Spine, Medtronic Spinal and Biologics, Stryker Spine, Synthes Spine and Zimmer Spine still lead the market and dominate the nonfusion segment, but artificial disc options for spine surgeons will expand in the near future. The report estimates that the spinal implant market, which topped $5 billion in 2008, will grow to more than $7.5 billion by 2013.
