IRB Approval a Factor in Using Social Media in Recruitment

Although getting timely IRB approval for social media recruitment efforts has been an obstacle for many sites, the University of Texas’ M.D. Anderson Cancer Center has fine-tuned the process. To expedite the IRB approval process, the center tries to use as much content that already has been IRB-approved as possible. “We try to link back to resources as opposed to reinventing the wheel,” Jennifer Texada, the center’s digital and new media program manager, said.
